OpenAI Introduces More AI Customization Tools for Users
According to a Reuters report, OpenAI is looking to enable increased user customization for its ChatGPT chatbot. The ChatGPT creator intends to release tools that grant enterprise and individual users more control over the popular AI system. OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman said the tools should also enhance the models for general and specific use cases. Addressing investors at a Morgan Stanley conference, Altman also said OpenAI would build a platform that sells APIs to others.
Last month, OpenAI announced the development of a chatbot upgrade that users could customize to address concerns with artificial intelligence bias. At the time, Altman explained:
“We’ll launch more things soon that gives users additional control on the system to behave this way or that way.”
Amid its user customization plans, OpenAI is collaborating with enterprise clients to program its models in certain domains. The Microsoft-backed company has also reportedly reduced artificial intelligence hallucinations. AI hallucinations are incidents where the sentient system confidentially issues an incorrect response based on existing facts.
More on the OpenAI Customization Plan
Altman revealed a global services partnership between OpenAI and management consultancy firm Bain & Company. The collaboration would enable Bain to embed artificial intelligence in its client operations.
Other use cases could also see enterprises working with OpenAI use their data to render a copy of the model to lessen data safety concerns. For instance, beverage giant Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) is working with OpenAI and Bain to deploy ChatGPT and DALL-E platforms. Coca-Cola seeks to use AI tools to create personalized ad copy, images, and messaging.
Meanwhile, Altman suggested that investors should value OpenAI as a firm capable of achieving the agenda of general artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the veteran entrepreneur and investor also suggested increased investor control over how the AI platform works.
Despite OpenAI’s ambitious plans, Altman admitted that the San Francisco-based company’s AI system could not achieve 100% accuracy. However, the OpenAI CEO also added that he foresees applications such as AI doctors and AI lawyers emerging on people’s phones soon.
ChatGPT’s popularity has surged since its launch last November, with more than 1 billion visits to the site. At the turn of the year, the chatbot’s traffic hit 616 million visits.
ChatGPT Plus
Following CharGPT’s success, OpenAI launched a pilot subscription plan called ChatGPT Plus at the beginning of February. With ChatGPT Plus, the company charges users $20 per month for more reliable and fast services.
A February 1st OpenAI Twitter post read:
“We are piloting ChatGPT Plus, a subscription plan that offers faster response times and reliability during peak hours. And, of course, the free tier of ChatGPT is still available.”
OpenAI also pointed out:
“We love our free users and will continue to offer free access to ChatGPT. By offering this subscription pricing, we will be able to help support free access available to as many people as possible.”
The company said ChatGPT Plus is available to US-based users but would soon roll out to other regions.
