Crypto exchange Bit2Me set to launch Mastercard debit card for EU

Bit2Me, a Spanish-based cryptocurrency exchange platform, has now announced the launch of the Bit2Me Card, a Mastercard debit card that will allow payments in both cryptocurrencies and euros in all establishments that accept Mastercard.

Usage of the Bit2Me card will not be limited to Spanish territory. However, for the time being, it will only be issued to Bit2Me users in the European Union.

In real-time, Bit2Me will convert cryptocurrencies into fiat money, and Bit2Me users will be able to pay for their purchases with any of the 69 cryptocurrencies that the company offers on its exchange platform. Furthermore, before the end of the year, Bit2Me plans to increase its offering of cryptocurrencies to 200.

This is a project in which Baldomero Falcones, who recently joined Bit2Me as Senior Advisor, has played a key role. Falcones was worldwide Chairman of Mastercard between 2002 and 2006, Chairman of FCC, and COO at Banco Santander. He is also co-founder of the VC firm Magnum Industrial Partners.

“We are delighted to work hand in hand with Bit2Me to continue innovating and creating solutions in the world of payments, and we are sure that this product will be very well received both in Spain and in Europe.”
– Paloma Real, General Manager of Mastercard Spain
