Rentberry Uses Blockchain Tech to Better Connect Tenants and Landlords

Blockchain technology is making its way into a variety of industries.  It is the catalyst to rebuilding some of our most archaic systems.  As more and more of our lives move online it is easy to see how renting apartments and homes moves in that direction too.

In recent years, popular online platforms like Apartments.com and Westside Rentals have become an integral part of home searching. , Alex Lubinsky, CEO of Rentberry, searched the San Francisco rental market for over a month before he realized there had to be a better way.  Alex turned to blockchain technology to transform the online rental market.

Lubinsky created Rentberry to better connect tenants and landlords. Finding the perfect landlord can be challenging, but with Rentberry’s platform it’s easy to spot your perfect match.  Rentberry is using blockchain technology to track and record landlord’s reviews and actions within the platform.

Tenants are able to leave reviews on the landlord after they move out. Using this information, Rentberry assigns them a score, which future tenants can see when they are browsing potential properties, which greatly reduces the risk of being stuck with a slumlord. Rentberry’s platform can track landlord reliability, such as how long it takes landlords to respond to maintenance requests and overall response times.  As a tenant, you have access to a landlord’s reviews and overall score, so you can make an educated decision about who you are renting from.

Rentberry also takes the texting, calling, emailing, etc. out of communicating with your landlord.  All communication between the tenant and landlord takes place within the platform.  This keeps communication in one place, if for any reason the tenant ever has to pull communication records.

On a more technical note, Rentberry is utilizing blockchain technology to automate the rental process.  Currently there is a cumbersome exchange of documents and procedures to finalize a rental agreement. This relies on the landlord and tenant going through a series of tasks for each item.  Rentberry uses smart contracts to automate these proceedings, saving the tenant and landlord time and money.

Rentberry is one more step toward integrating technology into our everyday lives. It supports the tenant by connecting them with the best landlord possible to meet their needs.  It also consolidates communication in order to be easily accessible.

Using blockchain technology, Rentberry is deploying a rating system to score landlords on their timeliness and responsiveness. This new age rental platform saves participants time and money by using smart contracts to automate rental tasks. Rentberry, while not the first online rental platform, is attempting to use blockchain to revitalize the traditional home rental market.
