OpenAI Launches GPT Store for Custom Chatbots and New Business Tier ChatGPT Team

OpenAI, one of the leading artificial intelligence companies in the United States, has officially launched its highly-anticipated GPT Store, providing users with a platform to share their personalized chatbots.

The Store’s debut comes after a series of delays, with the initial launch date pushed from November to December and, ultimately, to January.

Millions of Custom-made GPTs Developed on GPT Store

According to the company’s blog post, the GPT Store marks a significant expansion of OpenAI’s ecosystem, allowing users to contribute to the growing potential use cases for ChatGPT.

Since the introduction of the GPT Builder program in November, over 3 million custom chatbots, or GPTs, have been created by users globally.

The GPTs cover various applications, with users showcasing their creativity, such as generating synonyms for common words.

So far, the Store boasts a range of chatbots, including personalized trail recommendations from AllTrails, search and synthesized results from 200M academic papers with Consensus, design presentations and social posts with Canva, code tutor from Khan Academy, and a math and science tutor with the CK-12 Flexi.

OpenAI plans to roll out more features for the GPT Store every week, offering users a curated selection of innovative and valuable chatbots within the Store.

OpenAI Unveils ChatGPT Team

Initially, OpenAI offered access to the GPT Store for subscribers of its paid tiers, including ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users. However, the company has introduced a new tier called ChatGPT Team. The tier is designed for businesses of any size with a size of up to 150 team members.

“Today, we announced our new ChatGPT Team plan for teams of all sizes. Team customers can access a private section of the GPT Store, including GPTs securely published to your workspace,” the company wrote.

The ChatGPT Team, priced at $25 per month per user for annual billing or $30 per month per user for monthly billing, provides access to GPT-4, DALL-E 3, and OpenAI’s Advanced Data Analysis feature, along with data control.

For subscribers to the ChatGPT Team, the Store opens up opportunities to create custom GPTs tailored to the unique needs of their businesses.

Importantly, OpenAI assures that data and conversations within the ChatGPT Team will not be utilized for model training, addressing privacy and data security concerns.

The company has also taken steps to ensure the quality and safety of the chatbots available in the GPT Store. As a result, OpenAI has established a new review system to ensure that all custom GPTs comply with its brand guidelines and usage policies.

Additionally, the firm has updated its reporting mechanisms to address concerns regarding harmful or unsafe content generated by GPTs.

OpenAI to Rollout Creator Rewards Program

OpenAI also plans to implement a revenue-sharing program for GPT creators starting in the year’s first quarter.

While specific details remain undisclosed, GPT builders in the United States can expect compensation based on user engagement with their chatbots.

“In Q1, we will launch a GPT builder revenue program. As a first step, US builders will be paid based on user engagement with their GPTs. We’ll provide details on the criteria for payments as we get closer,” the company said.

The move aims to incentivize creators and further stimulate the development of innovative and valuable GPT applications.
