Melania Trump Launched Her Own NFT Platform Called ‘Melania’s Vision’

The former first lady of the US Melania Trump is joining the crypto industry by launching her own non-fungible tokens (NFT) platform. Named “Melania’s Vision,” the NFTs are inspired by Melania’s cobalt blue eyes, “providing the collector with an amulet to inspire.” The proceeds from the NFT collection will partially go to help children in foster care.

Melania stated:

“I am proud to announce my new NFT endeavor, which embodies my passion for the arts, and will support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative. Through this new technology-based platform, we will provide children computer science skills, including programming and software development, to thrive after they age out of the foster community.”

According to Trump, the NFTs will live on the Solana (SOL) blockchain. The first NFTs will be available through the end of the year at the price of 1 SOL (approximately $176 as of press moment). Credit card payments will be available as well. In addition to NFTs, those who get them will also get an audio recording from Melania Trump “with a message of hope.”

This is Melania’s Trump first public project since she left office a year ago. Notably, her husband Donald Trump is not a supporter of cryptos at all. In June this year, he said that Bitcoin (BTC) poses a threat to the US dollar and even called the cryptocurrency a “scam.”

In October, Trump stated:

“I am not a fan of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated crypto assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity.”

Seems that his wife has a different opinion. With her NFTs, Melania joins a growing list of celebrities who also offer digital pieces of art.

Solana Declines Its Responsibility for Melania’s NFTs

While Melania Trump stated that her NFT platform would run on Solana blockchain, Solana Labs says it isn’t responsible for the project.

Solana Labs representative commented:

“I wanted to inform you, to avoid any confusion, that her choice to use the Solana blockchain was completely organic, and this project is not part of any Solana-led initiative.”

MoonPay, crypto payment startup that Melania said would also participate in her project, declined any kind of partnerhip with her as well. The UK-based company said that “it is not possible to make credit card payments through MoonPay to purchase Melania Trump’s NFT collection.” Further, MoonPay added that it “has no official role in the effort.”
